The United States Air Force (USAF) awarded an extension to an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) for the purchase of acquisition, production, and sustainment of directed infrared countermeasures system for large aircraft. The existing IDIQ contract has an ordering period from 1 January 2019 - 31 December 2023. This effort will extend the ordering period of the existing IDIQ by 5 years to 31 December 2028. Additionally, the existing IDIQ contract has a period of performance from 1 January 2019 - 31 December 2025. This effort will extend the period of performance by 5 years to 31 December 2030 for completion of effort and final delivery. This results in a total ordering period of 10 years (1 January 2019 - 31 December 2028) for a total period of performance of 12 years (1 January 2019 - 31 December 2030).

The USAF awards this effort as a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 Only One Responsible Source because of a duplication of cost to the Government that is not expected to be recovered through competition if awarding to any other source and that supplies are only available from one source and no other supplies satisfy the requirement. The USAF awards this sole source contract to Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, 600 Hicks Rd, Rolling Meadows IL, 60008-1015.
